Are the GS4/3 Shocks the Same?

Hey everyone I wanted to know if the GS400 shocks are basically the same as the GS300 shocks just with a heavier weight limit? I have a 99' GS3 and I just installed a S/C which is cool, but I didn't expect the front end to be so heavy.
I was thinking that I might swap out the stock shocks for the GS400 shocks for better ride quality. The car rides hard now which I don't like. I was also thinking of replacing the stock shocks. By the way my shocks have about 147k miles on them.
Will the GS4 shocks even fit the GS3 to begin with and has anyone tried this? Any insight would be helpful. Thanks in advance guys.

As far as fitment, they are 100% the same. However, I've heard that the GS400/430 has tighter spring rates. Thats probably why spec's on paper says the V8 can handle better than the i6. The GS300 was probably designed as more of the common care to be bought. So less engine noise and smoother suspension. As for the V8, I think only a small fraction of GS sales were v8's. As such they are marketed to a sportier crowd that will pay a premium for the speed and such. Thats why the v8's have a touch more engine rumble and the suspension is a little stiffer(I think).
Why don't you just get an aftermarket suspension? Getting the proper set can still help you stay around factory ride while getting a boost in the handling department.

GS 300/400/430 suspension is the same, there is only about 60 pounds more in curb weight between the I6 and V8, at 147,000 miles your shocks are long gone, pickup a good set of coilovers and enjoy that s/c.

^ agreed. at 147k the stockers are wasted, for sure. get some CS (if you still can) and you will not be disapointed. from what I've always heard, GS3 and GS4 shocks are identical.

The GS3 is rated around .79G and GS4/430 is at .82G. Unless this is due to the GS4 having higher performance tires than the GS3??

If you still question the replies in this thread go and check part numbers for GS suspension, both stock and aftermarket, 300/400/430 part numbers are the same.
