Question Sport Springs vs. Normal IS 350 Springs

How much of a ride difference is there between the two ride levels. If I was planning on putting sport spings on my car instead of the normal stock spring that I have on right now, how much of a difference will I see?

Well, i've never test driven the stock springs nor the luxury, only thing I know is, it's supposed to be lower by an inch, both front and back. It should be stiffer however the sport suspension to me feels pretty nice and I'm coming from a Mercedes, and they made some nice rides. Although one concern that I'm thinking about is, would changing the springs from stock to sport or even to an aftermarket spring, would that give the stock shocks more of a strain? Wouldn't you need to change the shocks to accomodate for the new springs?

is the sport package just springs? or springs/shock combination?

Spring rate is identical between the two. The only difference is the height being .5" lower on the Sport Package.

The wheel gap between the FRONT and REAR wheels on the sport package is as significant as it is on the base and luxury models, ie. 0.5 inches, (big wheel gap in the front compared to rear). Performance aside, and if the IS350 sport springs are indeed lower than the base and luxury models, then you might be able to get the drop you're looking for by going sport springs in the front, base model springs in the rear... Just a thought.

When i look at a IS350 W/Lux package I can spot the difference right away compared
to a IS350 W/SPort package. I think a 0.5" drop is very noticable.. (To my eyes, anyway)

According to the Lexus website, the sports package comes with "firmer performance springs and shocks"...

Sport-Tuned Suspension
The available sport-tuned suspension (RWD only) comes with firmer performance springs and shocks for taut, more assured handling and increased tire grip.

The non sports are a lot smoother. My sport is a little on the 'choppy' side. Whether it's the springs or the dampers, (or a combination of both), there is a noticeable difference besides the ride height.

Is it for sure that the sport suspension is actually 1" lower than stock, as Lexus product literature indicates the only difference in the height of any IS is that of the IS250 AWD which is taller?

Encountered way too much rubbing in the front end. Extremly bad. Especially when I would go over bumps...horrible.

Only 1/2 of an inch not 1 whole inch from Sport package to regular. The real difference the Sport package has is the 1/2" spring drop and stiffer shocks. The spring rate of the sport and regular are identical. There is no other difference as was told by the Lexus College product instructors we talked to before the IS was released.

That would possibly be due the wrong wheel/tire diameter you ride on. They're the wrong size for the actual design of the wheelwell, especially when you lower it any amount.
