Brake Ugrade for 01 GS430
Hey all. Im new to the forums and would like suggestions on a brake upgrade for my GS. I see alot of posts about Supra TT calipers but was wondering if that is the best/most inexpensive way to go. I do not by any means want to sacrifice quality for cost so please give me suggestions on this. I do have 19 inch wheels so space should not be an issue.
Thank you all in advance,
Rob

i do agree that best bang for the bucks, supra tt setup with ss lines, it's very very good already.
but if you want to upgrade it a bit higher, then i agree with cody, stoptech is awesome

I just want more stopping power and no wheel shake upon braking. I need new brake pads/rotors and figure if I am going to put new I may as well upgrade. It will be street driven but I do drive hard and would like the car to stop better than it does with factory setup. Can you guys send me some links to honest legitamate people so I dont get ripped of.....Thanks for all the replies I appreciate all of your input

If you aren't going to show your car or put it on the track, IMO you don't really need a big brake upgrade. Just get some quality replacement stuff.
Brembo blanks for your brakes
Goodrich stainless steel lines
Flush with synthetic brake fluid like ATE Super Blue, Motul or even Valvoline Synthetic
Quality pads (I haven't shopped for these in a while to know what the current flavor of the month is ).
You'll get 75% of the benefits of a brake upgrade with far less cost and hassle when you sell your car.
Can get nearly all that stuff at www.l-tunedparts.com

Thanks for your response Dave. So what you are saying is that the factory calipers are good and I should be able to increase stopping power with just some good rotors/pads. Right now it seems as if the car feels really heavy under braking , and I know it is heavy but I would like for it to stop with much less effort. It would be great if i could get away with JUST rotors and pads and I would be happy. Should I use cross drilled/slotted or what do you think? I am all about saving money so long as the result is increased stopping power. Thanks again.

If you have open style wheels they'd be nice to have for the looks, but they very likely won't cause you to feel any performance difference at all. They also can be prone to make more noise when braking than solid rotors and can be more prone to cracking or other stress issues.
Don't just do the rotors and pads... get the stainless lines and the high temp fluid as well. Those things also usually will be part of a big brake package you'd buy

Ok so does brembro make standard NON cross drilled or slotted rotors or should i just get factory rotors? What about factory pads as well? Help me out here Dave. If this was you car what would you put on it? I am trying to keep cost down but DO want to feel a difference when I stop from light to light.

Dave suggeston are all true. GS stock brake is better than other cars in market. My suggestion to you is get a set of high performance tire and stopping power will be more effective. Have you checked your brake pad lately?

Yes they are in need of replacement and that is why I want to upgrade. I figure if I have to replace them why not upgrade a little? But I guess I could follow the above and just do new pads/rotors/lines/fluids.... I did find what seems to be a pretty good kit that comes with rotors pads and lines for 450 shipped. The name of the company is Grip Force F1? It is actually on ebay. ANY GOOD? Hmmmmm seems tempting lots of people say it is a good product in feedback.
Thanks Rob

Just to add, performance pads tend to be harsher on rotors so unless you want to change the rotors more often, don't get the OEM ones. I think what Dave suggested in combination with Willie's suggestion for better tires will give your braking power a nice boost.
