Default Replacement brake pads (low-dust)

Summitracing just added the ISx50's
just tires, spark plugs and brake pads so far.

Anyone have experience with EBC Greenstuff pads?
"EBC Greenstuff 2000 series passenger car organic brake pads provide low-dust, high performance braking."

EBC Greens are good quality pads. They are popular with the A4/S4 crowd, but personally I always used Mintek RedBox pads as my street pads on my A4.

The EBC Green Stuff is suposed to have 40% less dust than regular brake pads.
EBC also makes Red Stuff which are ceramic with 50% less dust.
They are available through Autoparts Warehouse.

For the higher price you get less brake dust, but do the Green or Red Stuff brake pads perform better or worse than the stock brake pads? e.g stopping distance, fade resistance, average life? Any reason why I should not consider switching?

I'd like to try the Red Stuff but am concerned that the ceramic
might cause excessive rotor wear.

unless you are planning on tracking the car, those would be overkill.

Green stuff are dusty. Had them on my 1st gen and they are just as dusty as the OEM pads that come with the 2nd gen. I hated them!! I ended up replacing them with the OEM for my 1st gen.

The red stuff are better pads, but will eat your rotors.

What about it squeaking? Would it squeak as much as the stock? Cause even if it emits the same amount of dust, I would buy it just to get rid of the damn squeaky brakes.

I would too. The squeaky sound is just annoying...especially to a brand new car...
It makes me feel like I am in a 10+-year-old car...

i have never had any squeaking on my is350.

on my TLS though, i had slotted rotors and the ebc pads and had no squeaking. just make sure to apply anti-squeal to the pads before you install them.

EBC Redstuff is what is recommended for the 2IS by Andy at EBC. I've been looking around but no one seems to have them in stock. The part #s are there, but nothing in stock. If anyone found a place where it is in stock, please let us know. In the meantime, I'll wipe the dust off every other day.
