That's a good find Joe, I'll have to keep tabs on the E Brake and how much I depress the pedal when engaging it.

hey guys, yes i know old thread but you dont know how many hours i spent trying to locate the source of my noise.

it sounds most prevalent over speed bumps at any speed and sounds like metal on metal, or some type of squeaking and only when coming down on the speed bump. it could be almost anything, but i ruled out sway bar/bushings, brake pads/rotors, exhaust. ill try this ebrake thing tonite, but im really hoping that nothing is wrong with the ball joints or shocks. i am running tein cs, 1 inch drop front. noise sounds like its from the fronts. started happening after i left the car idle for about a month. tein cs were running noise free before hand for at least a few months.

weird thing is the noise would come and go left/right side. i dunno, but i pretty much gave up until i saw this thread!

JohnnySpag I'm a Technician at a Lexus dealership in NY and we've had and fixed many 06+ IS's with your concern. It is the rear brake shoes that shakes and makes contact with a piece on your hub. This problem is not harmful to the car but a noise concern. We've already told Lexus about the problem so once they get more complaints they will or already are working on a TSB repair. For now we're putting felt on the ends of the brake shoes so they dont have a chattering sound when making contact. There is noway to stop the movent that is normal.
