Emergency Brake Adjustment for my GS300
Does anyone know where and how to adjust the emergency brake? It does not have any stopping power at all. I've place my car in neutral on a hill with the e-brake on and it does not hold the car still at all.

i did this on my girlfriends gs300 about a month ago. under the dash where the e-brake pedal itself is located, there is a threded rod with spring and a nut and a locknut type setup..i think i had to remove the dash trim piece under the steering wheel for easier acces(2 screws, pops right off) just get a deep well socket and tighten it up, then replace the locking nut so it doesnt come loose. i didnt know how far to tighten it, so i just did it parked on a hill, and would put the car in neutral and kept tightening till it held. it was really simple

There is an additional adjustment point on the chassis, at the point where the pedal cable meets and center pulls the cable to the two rear wheels. Dual 12mm locknuts on a threaded shaft.
The location is about under the drivers seat.

Your question was aimed at a 15 year old thread/post. This entire section of club Lexus is 2nd generation. With that said, IMO these instructions could add tension to the emergency brake, but the more proper way IMO is the adjustment at the brake shoes accessed via the service plug / hole in the rear brake rotor. You use a flat head screwdriver to adjust (spin) the multi-fingered rotor within which, if you turn in the correct direction, will spread the shoes apart, taking them closer to the drum, at which point the perceived slack in the cable will be reduced.
