supra tt brakes? Ls400 brakes?
I read a lot of people are going with the LS400 brake pad and calipers but doesn't the Supra TT hold the record for the quickest braking ability? I want to feel the power of the Supra TT brakes on my '93 SC4. Would it be better to just buy the Supra Brake Pad & Calipers? Or is the LS400 the same?

What are you after? Are you racing? Cruising? Wanting to say you have Supra brakes? From what I have gleaned, many people are very happy with LS brakes. They are cheaper, more plentiful and probably 75-85% as effective as Supra calipers. Do you need that extra 15-25%? Once you made that decision, what you need to do will be obvious.

Thanks VIP!
Sweetster, I happen to have Supra calipers, but that's only cuz I got a good deal on them. Otherwise I'm sure the average stopping power required by your ride, even with a turbo application, will be sufficiently achieved by LS4s. That means you can spend $200 or more on another mod.

i agree again, you can always buy nicer lines, pads, etc. for the same price as doing a simple autozone swap over. I too have the tt brakes and I love them; the difference between the two is noticeable but only when you push them hard, otherwise they perform similarly around town.

I am just looking to feel the power of amazing stopping distance. Like stopping from 100-0 the fastest. But if the difference is only minor, and I can save $200...then I guess LS400 is the way to go.

IMHO,
LS400 brakes are amazing and were designed to stop the LS400 from speeds of 150mph to ZERO. they're good brakes. If I didn't like my stock sc300 wheels so much, I'd upgrade my brakes as well...but my aftermarket pads stop my sc300 plenty fast anyways.

to add on to this, since the supra brakes are bigger (rotor/pad friction area) you can run less agressive pads and stop the same as a minor upgraded pad on the ls4's. That was my main reason for doing so, I run stock toyota pads and stock rotors and I can kiss the ground with the front of my car knowing that I wont have to change pads or rotors every year.

Kiet, Sure everyone wants that extra bit...but are you willing to pay for it? Some are and some aren't. I want a GT-40, but...
Annnyway unless you are on a track, live in Oklahoma or have a cloaking device, the threat of a ticket for exercising a velocity that requires the extra 15-25% is fairly high. The LS brakes are more than sufficient for most people. If you are sporting 800 rwhp, then probably not. Of course if you do have that many ponies, you shouldn't be pinching pennies either.

I change pads depending on what im doing. I track the car heavily during the spring/summers so once they wear out i will do so but they have taken the abuse well for about a year and still have more than half the pad left.
