if a company ever comes out with brake dust covers, that might be an alternative.

I would rather deal with the dust than make my wheels look like hub caps.

It's funny that the ad actually mentions hub caps, but they SHOULD say "It fits inside to make your wheels LOOK like hub caps".

Brake dust covers can make your rotors overheat and screw up your car.

They will cause your brakes to run somewhat hotter, but they wouldn't damage anything or even reduce performance if driven "normally" on the street. It would be stupid to use them on the track.

The engineers at Lexus/Toyota obviously didn't care about brake dust because they know these are the best performing pads for the car. It gives maximum bite and best braking power...period. Yes, it sucks to see black rims especially after cleaning them just a couple of days ago. But until someone has tried ceramic pads on this car and reports back with good reviews, I will continue to endure wiping them down every other day.

Dust covers, heck no!!! My rims look great, and dust covers would make my wheels look stupid. I guess I will have to wash them every other day.

I just found a new product that help get the dust off the rims, Mr. Clean Magic Erasers for Rims and Tires. I saw them while picking up more micro fiber cleaning towels and went, WTH I'll give em a whirl.

Tried them this weekend, WOW! It made getting the dust off totally easy. Applied a nice coat of wax after which is also helpful.

Just wanted to pass on the tip

I know Michelin just got a cleaner and coating kit for rims out this year.

But I always wondered about these products effectiveness. For me, the dust on my rims is not hard to clean. I just wipe them with a wet shop towel after applying P21S. I also find the rims very dirty after one week of use but my last car was also a 3500lbs middleweight so I got used to it.

How much more easy is it to clean with Mr. Clean Magic Erasers SerKevin? If it’s just spray and wash without harming the wheels coating I’ll definitely buy some.

No they just look like a really dense white sponge. You just get them wet and lightly rub, the dust comes right off.

There are several spots on my wheels where, even though they were cleaned and waxed well, I'd have to really scrub to get the brake dust off. With the magic eraser, the stuff just whipes right off.
