I was wondering if anyone has had a problem with their brakes. Mine have been squeaking since the first week ive had it. I went to the dealer and they said that since they are a high performance semi-metallic compound that they are always gonna squeak because they build brake dust faster. So please can someone help me here!!!!

you should've had them replaced your brake pads when it didn't stop. Because I highly doubt they would sell all their cars that when you braked it sqeaked. that guy to talked to has some truth to it, but hes totally B'sn you with ALWAYS!

Well see how much people have this sqeaking problem with their car and make your judgement from there. Cause they have some good aftermarket stuff, but also some crappy ones and depending on your driving style, it could eat up your brake pads. Even when I changed my pads to aftermarket it started to sqeak and I went str8 back to OEM and never that problem again.

I'm not that hard on my brakes at all. I'm definitely gonna go to the dealer and see if they can change them. I'm interested to see how many people have this problem initially with their brand new IS.

mine has been squeaking since <500 miles. mentioned it during my 5k service and they said it was "glazed" so they did whatever they did to it but the squeak never went away. planning on bringing it back n hopes of them replacing the pads or whatever, but i think one guy on here had his pads replaced but still squeaking.
you should ask the service guy if they squeak cuz they're "high performance" then why doesn't the is350 squeak?

I have the same damn problem 2 weeks after I bought my IS 250 in April. I tried to ignore it hoping that it would go away. It's not a major concern, but the squeaking sounds bug the hell out of me.

Brake squeal can occur if the brakes are used lightly, which causes a glaze to form. A simple fix is to do a couple FULL brake stops from 40-0. This is assuming that you know the brake pads have plently of life left in them. Let me know if this works.

Hi everyone, I had a similar front brake squeak problem with my 2006 IS350 at around 7k miles, I lived with it for ~3k miles and only got it resolved during my 10k service at my Lexus dealer (Oakland Colliseum). It was done under warranty.
The squeak occurs only when I'm doing a very slow stop, and only for the last 20-30 feet of the stop when I'm mildly braking. Does not occur under moderate or hard braking. Doesn't matter if the brake pads and rotor's been cleaned.
The noise is caused by the occurance of a small "lip" on the rotor's surface about 1-2mm away from the external edge of the rotor's surface as the brakes are used. It almost seems like the brake pads are not seated correctly, and through regular use, is causing a "lip" to form at the outer edge. The service department was stumped, they had not seen this problem with any other 06+ IS. They were speculating that since these brake pads are different from any other Lexus model (they said its the cartridge type that you load into a slot, very much like the pads used by the G35 coupe and 350Z) it might be a unique problem effecting the new gen IS.
They solved the problem by changing all my front pads and cutting the front rotors. They said that the rotors on the IS350 can be cut at least 2-3 times. I was a bit pissed, as they should have given me new rotors. The old pads had only been used ~40%, so I probably could have gotten 20k miles on them. Pretty good wear since I'm not a conservative driver, but I guess I should count my blessings to get new pads and a shaved rotor. I've currently been driving for ~1k miles with no more noise problems.
I looked at several ISs on the dealer lot and noticed that many of them had similar "lips". I wonder if this might be a recall or service bulletin.
Hope you find this helpful.
P.S.: I originally thought that this might be caused by excessive brake dust that plagues all IS models or rotor rust/glaze that ULTiMax99 was talking about. I used brake cleaners and thoroughly cleaned my brakes, but that didn't solve it. I also resorted to doing 30-0 and 60-0 hard stops. That didn't work either.
