Default Stupid Noob question about TT brakes..

The 98 Supra TT rotors are a direct bolt on to the SC400, correct? ( I have a 97)

The person I ordered from emailed me asking exactly what year/make/model rotors I needed for the front as well as the rear; 98 Supra TT is correct for both, right?

To the best of my knowledge they are.

Search the site a bit and read a few of the threads by people that did the swap to confirm.

i believe one of the mounting bolts is a lil extra long which requires you to put washers or some sort of spacer or use the TT bolt, and obviously you need rotors and the dust cover needs to be trimmed or replaced, lines should hook up no prob, and your wheels need to clear them

sorry

I'm purchasing TT rotors & TT calipers separately. (so, the end setup will be TT rotors and TT calipers, no SC400 rotors/calipers )

the shop I'm buying the rotors from wants me to triple check & make sure the TT rotors will fit on just fine. So..I thought I'd post

I'm new to this, sorry!

If you are running TT rotors, you should most definately be running TT calipers as well. Unsure if stock SC calipers fit correctly anyway. Even if they did, there would be no braking improvement since the surface area and force exerted would be unchanged.

The only issue I definately know of is the dust shield. Most remove the dust shield completely since it doesn't fit. I do believe some have fabricated a new way to mount it though.

gotcha. from what I understand, the dust shield isn't required, correct?

I just swapped out the stock brakes on my 92 SC300 for Supra TT brakes. You will need Supra calipers, rotors and pads. Brake lines are direct fit. Dust shield needs to be removed. I have Rota Subzeros ( 18 x 7.5 ) with a 42 mm offset and still needed 12mm spacers. H & R makes the best hubcentric spacer, but their options were 10mm or 15mm so I got the 15s. 235/40/18s dont rub with the car lowered 1-1/2" Hope that helps. All the bolts are the same.

The dust shield is not required. Just cut it off.
Avoid spacers. Procure rims that will clear your new brakes.

You do not have to completely cut off the dust shields. The are made of soft metal and lend themselves to being cut in some obvious places and bent back a little. They may also may direct some air flow, but probably not significant.

You've got PM.

You are totally, completely, officially done with 16" rims. Many 17's are not going to clear them either. The Supra TT's are a sure way out.

This is the real cost of the swap, the new rims and tires.
