I changed out the rack bushings today on my ltuned 00 GS300. My steering wheel has been really shaking at 60mph lately. I didnt get a chance to test drive it above 50mph yet. I started the job around 8pm and finished around 945.

The passenger side was a piece of cake to take off, remove and put back. The driver side was a different story. I didn't realize you gotta be sure not to put the bolts back on the pass side to give you play when doing the driver side. I put them 3/4 on then realized that. Getting off the driver side bushings were tough not because mainly because theres not a lot of room to use tools. But once I got them out, I struggled figuring out how to get the new bushings in since there's very little room to knock them in with a mallet.

I had to take off one side of that "A" shaped bar (sorry dont know the name) just to have room to tap on the plastic ends of the bushing. Once in place (but not tight) it took me a good 30 min to realize I should use the bushing bolt/washer and just tighten it in to pull the plastic bushing in. There I was for 30 min trying to find a way to tap the damn bushings in with no room to use a mallet.

Anyhow, we'll see tomorrow if this works! Im hoping I didnt tighten them too much, I can't estimate torque when I'm doing it by hand.

Ps - it took TM Engineering 2 weeks to get these to me after my order. Ordered 8/24, received 9/8.

The A shaped bar is a chassis brace.

As for tightening, just tighten the hell out of it. I torqued up to spec, but the rack was still moving slightly. So I tightened it a bit more, it seems to be moving less (but there still a little bit of play). Definitely an improvement over OEM, but I'd like to try FIGS solid bushings!

Is it just me or Daizen is no longer around?
Can anyone give me a link to Daizen please. Or anyone that carries it. I google it and seach up everything but its keeps telling me they are no longer available.
I tried DaizenSportTuning.com and www.tmengineering.net but no luck ):

Do the armstrong bushings from sewell come with instructions (yes i know this is a DIY thread)

I just wanna be able to show them to my mechanic so he understands that this is a simple job and so that he knows that this job isn't gonna take 3 to 5 hours lmao like most shops that i've called are trying to tell me.

They all think that the rack need to be removed to do this job.

It's a rather easy job. I did mine without instructions.. Just went under the car and started taking things off.

I've seen that in your past posts that your steering was super lose before you installed the bushings?

I was wondering did you ever get your inner and outer tie rods replaced because my steering is so lose and the only things that i haven't replaced yet are my inner and outer tie rods and my rack bushings.

Does it sound like I really need a new steering rack to you?

I did replace my outer tie rods, but my inner tie rods are original. The steering is direct and tight. I have no loose steering issues at all.

Why don't you just print out the DIY thread and give that to your mechanic?

Ok, maybe a little left of field here, but, Super Pro (Fulcrum suspensions) have a kit available here in Australia. However, they have 2 models listed to suit Toyota/Lexus vehicles. Like many aftermarket parts manufacturers they kinda get it wrong sometimes based on customers wrong specs. One kit with the bushing having an ID of 47mm and the other 50mm. I am going with 50mm, especially after seeing one of those pictures posted above, but I was wondering if anyone can confirm this for me? I don't have the required measuring equipment (verniers) to check on my car without removing the bushing.

FYI, I have a 2001 Toyota Aristo JDM.

Lol, yo man you still asking about do you need a new steering rack? I already answered your question in this thread https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...rack-help.html

Two days before you posted this. The ONLY reason a rack would move is if the bushings are worn. Replace the rack bushings, NOT the rack!!
