I just purchased a set of OEM Supra TT wheels and need some advice on tire sizing for my 99' Sc300. I'm looking to make a conserative drop, hence leading towards the idea of a Tanabe/Tokico combo.

Should I stick with the factory setting of 235/45/17 up front & 255/40/17 in the rears or go with a different setup? Any help in regards to either both suspension and tire sizing would be greatly appreciated.

Did you even think about searching around before you started a new thread on something that has been documented thoroughly on the forums.

Both front and rear tire size is wrong for oem app, run MKIV Supra TT tire sizes to retain factory speedo settings.

I believe most TT wheel people run 245/45/17 and 275/40/17 for rears.

I use 245/45/17 on the front and 285/40/17 on the rear. If I lower he car any further than it is now the rears will rub the fender. If I were to roll the fenders they would just clear. The fronts didn't rub until I added adapters. I put the adapters on to push the rims out a little bit. They were sunk in too far without the adpaters. And they rub just a little bit on steep entrances.

iam running 235/45. front and 275/40 rear. so tell me, why is it that the front tire is taller?

The rear should be 0.4" taller, so either it's manufacturing differences (specs are apparently more of a guideline than a measurement) or the width of the rims making one sit up taller or one stretch lower. My fronts are nearly an inch taller than my rears despite being 0.2" taller according to the specs.

I've been using 235/45-17 front and 255/40-17 rear on TT rims for a few years now (with a YellowBox speedo corrector). It's been pointed out to me that this isn't a match for our original OEM tire diameters but these are the original factory tire sizes TT Supras used.

I ran the much more common 245/45-17 front and 275/40-17 rears on them a while back and I think that's still the best all around choice to balance larger contact patch, handling and cost. The smaller sizing is better suited to non-turbo vehicles for acceleration.

IIRC a 285 is supposed to be the widest tire you can squeeze onto the rear rims but handling might still be better with 265-275's.

Skip the tanabes and run oem Tt suspension. That is,if you like suspension travel and care more about performance than looks.

Mine are on 255/40/17 fronts and 275/40/17 rears and lowered a good bit with BC Coilovers. No rolling or pulling fenders, all stock.
