Default SC steering box VS Supra steering box

Does anyone know what ratio the stock SC box is? IE* 15:1, 17:1 ect? It feels like we have a very slow ratio, and I would like to upgrade it. Thinking the supra may have a quicker box since it was the "sporty" model. Any one know? This is one of the few things that the corvette, ect have that I miss in my lexus. Since I decided not to by a C5, might as well get the feeling in my car.

good luck on this, i think it has to do with the long wheelbase as well, i hate the looping the turns at low speed the sc does.

SC's have variable assist, which if i remember correctly, makes the gearing change depending on the speed your cars traveling.

I think it is 17.5 :1 and yes it is speed sensitive variable assist but I don't know how this figures in with the 17.5 : 1 ratio.

Variable assist just changes the effort needed to turn the wheel, not the ratio. You are thinking of the new BMWs and Porsches with the variable ratio steering.

i dont recomend doing this if you dont know what you are doing.

i was fiddling with this and this is what i did

added spacers to inner tie rods

turn my clock spring counter clock wise only 1.5 turns instead of 2 but i dont run a airbag so i dont care.

that gave me a shorter lock to lock. for the steering assist just get use to it when i enter drifts over 50mph u can feel it. there is also an electrical connector that goes to the steering rack i dont know what happens if you unplug it but i think it has something to do with steering assist.

Did some research and the Supra steering is a 17.5:1 ratio according to this: http://mkiv.com/specifications/product_source/93/14.JPG

Still trying to look for the sc300 specs. To figure out steering ratio you take the 360 degrees you turn your steering wheel divided by how many degrees the actual wheel moves. ie. If you turn 360 degrees and the wheel moves 20 degrees it equals a 18:1 ratio.

i think the ls 400 rack bolts right up and the ratio is shorter than the sc not too positive on this though ,but if the control arms ,sway bars and mostly everything else on the car bolt right up i dont see why they would make the rack too much different from the sc

17:1 is ****, the corvette you get a 12:1 ratio. The evo is either a 12 or 13:1, and even ****ty dsm's are 15:1.
