Default Tein Coil Overs, I'm Confused...

I am getting ready to pull the trigger on these and I am looking at the super street. I see there are 3 versions per their site. The dress up system, the luxury sytem and the Super street. It shows the super street as having 16 different shock adjustments. The back tires are tucked with the tanabe springs now. I want the front set up pretty much the same. For the guys running these, what shock settings do you run? Are you happy with them. I got quoted $900 for the coil overs and three hours labor. Any input is appreciated.

Depends on how competent the worker is. My install took a little under 1 hour.

Well, there are only two types of coilovers for this car at the moment. TEIN SS (Super Street) & TEIN CS (Comfort Sport). I remember a TEIN Rep mentioned to me they were making FLEX, but that was many many months ago.

The "dress up system" and "luxury system" is just springs. H TECH & S TECH.

It seems you are asking for height wise, not shock damping wise, cause that does not determine the ride height and how "tucked" the wheels are.

If you are near the San Fernando valley I can get them installed for you for around $200. PM me if you are interested and I will give you the name and number of who installed my coilovers.

I have the SS on my car. My install took 8 hours at the shop, including the wiring of the EDFC. 3 hours sound reasonable.

The shock dampening has nothing to do with the ride height. The ride height can go down 1.9" in front from what they told me. I was referring to the settings on the shock 1-16. I wanted to see what was a good setting and who was tunning their car slammed on the ground.

So you got the controller. I know thats a lot of extra work. How low did you go in front? How is the ride?

3 hours for four coilovers sounds reasonable too me. YOu have to pull 4 wheels off pull out the existing units which means some dissasmelby of the suspension. install the 4 coilovers button everything back up test drive it fool with the height a bit and do an alighment.

Even without the EDFC 2 or 3 hours is good time

Ooooh! Gotcha. Sorry about that.

But the price you got quoted $900 is INCLUDING the labor right? If so, that is a good price.

Personally I don't care, they can take as long as they want. I prefer a non-rush work anyway. The fronts are easy, as you pull old suspension out and put new one in. The rear you have to disassemble it.

It was $900 for the springs about another $150 for install.

$150 for install is a GOOD price. Coilovers....maybe you can haggle them down to $850.

$900 is actually a pretty good price for those.

and $150 for installed is more then reasonable

remember. they dont really get pay for how long they work.

a 3 hour job for suspension sounds right. it might only take them 1 hour but they will still charge you 3 hours (you alson dont know how many people were working on it at the same time). there is a book that they use to quote usually.

Are we talking about the Tein SS coilover or CS. I believe the CS coilver is 1190 and SS is 870 on the net. As for the Spring, H-tech is around 150 and S-tech is going for 175 on ebay. Some people on craiglist advertised a 25% off on all tein products but pick up only. I'll contact them and let you know if it really a 25% off MSRP.
