True, but Penske, Moton, and Ohlins make shocks with real adjustability. I have yet to see a Japanese brand that had four damping adjustments available to the end user. I'm pretty confident I could make the car ride far better than it does stock with a little work, and I don't mean buckboard stiff.

I had the JIC and now I have the Teins SS, and i noticed that the teins rust while the JIC never did (aluminum versus steel, i guess).
The ride quality for the Teins is better, IMO, but the JIC's handle better - probably because it was stiffer.

My GF has the SS also on her IS, and it rides pretty much the same.

Default shocks

Ok springs are nice, but we really need some shocks. If there were different types of shock absorbers from shock manufacturers to choose from, then you could make positive changes to your suspensions, ride and handling. Pretty easily too.
Is there any manufactures making new shocks for our 350's and 250's?

For 6k I could get a set of Ohlins ST44s (real race car coilovers) and fab up my own mounts... I'd hope Ohlins could do street car stuff for less.

vin_78, you're saying the JICs were stiffer even than the Tein SS? How stiff, really? Stiff by Lexus standards, or stiff by serious-sports-car-rattle-your-organs stiff?

Maybe. Moton's 3-way set retails for about $7k. Moton also makes a set up for a large number of BMWs and the IS300, but they are intended for track use, not street driving.

JIC Magic FLT-A2

Tein SS/CS

Megan Racing

Tanabe

Ok these seem like the big 4 most go with... A lot of people swear by Megans on here but I've heard a lot of bad stuff in the past.

Can some of you give insight on these? Price? Quality? Comfort? Drop?

I'm looking for drop and comfort. When this IS is done I'm going to pick up a project car track.

I was leaning towards megans for the same reasons but.

Some people are telling me to stay away from them and get some quality JDM stuff.

My vote goes to HKS Hipermax III, JIC, or Megans.

Where is a good vendor to order coilovers from?

Reason for picking those?

I have them. I went from Tein CS to HKS Hipermax. I like them a lot better than the CS. Its much more smoother and can be much more firmer than the CS (if you want ). Plus the HKS is a fully threaded type coilover. So when you adjust for your height you dont alter your spring rates, unlike the CS.

Though the down side is that they are little more $$ than the CS, but you get what you pay right?

I have the HKS Hipermax III as well.

I love them alot. It is indeed smooth and can be much more firm then the CS. I love this suspension. It's worth the weight in gold I say.
