Default Brake/Squeaking Noise Problem

Hi! I really need some help. I have the IS350 for a little over a year now, with 15k miles. Lately for the past month, I started hearing a loud pitch squeaking noise when I brake (it happens quite often). I called the Lexus dealer and the guy told me that it's normal? He said there's nothing they can do about it. My dad looked at the brake or something and said the first layer was thinning out (something like that). I really don't know anything about cars. Please help!!

Thanks!

Its a common issue with many 2nd gen IS, as it is with the last gen GS as well. Both share the same braking system and brake pads.

What happens is that they build up brake dust between the pad and disc causing it to squeal.

I had my pads sanded and the discs resourfaced at the dealer at around 7500 miles. Ever since, once in a while they begin to squeal. A couple of hard 60-0 stops and the squeal goes away. Basically, it cleans any brake dust deposits that build up.

There is a TSB in Canada for an alternate brake pad, the down side is that it gives you a decreased braking performance. And the jury is out as if it is a less dusty pad, and the squeal goes away.
