I would replace ball joints on any GS that has over 80-90k miles and while your there you should also replace the tie-rod ends..

Okay I just hit over 100k miles on my 99 GS300. No noises but ordering the items anyway. Hit up Sewell and they don't have the item it seems. Or at least it shows a price of 0.00.
So where else has everyone ordered their stuff?

Give them a call. Looks like they're renovating their website so not everything is updated.

I had Lexus do the "Certified" inspection on my 2000 GS300 ( which has 168k miles). The only major thing that turned up was "weak" balljoints.

Had my car in yesterday for an oil change and an H-Brace installation. Had my tech check the ball joints. No problem found.

Well Sewell's site works again. Seems as though you can't get them for what everyone did before. And yes that includes the CL code.
I'll be changing my lower ball joints this weekend. Not because I need to, but just for peace of mind.

I just did.

I recommend tie rod ends and ball joints at the same time. That's what I did and the car is driving sooo nicely.

The piece of mind would have made this swap worth it but the car rides a lot nicer too.

I just did my lower ball joints because the parts weren't very expensive.

I did notice a ride improvement, but it was very slight. I got more from a road force balance and a tech who took the extra time to match the tires and wheels as best he could.

TM Engineering can beat this price. They also have all the brushings you need. Just order everything at once. I believe the steering rack brushings are on backorder though. I'ma bout to do a complete suspension overhaul through them so i'll call to confirm.
