Man sorry to hear about your problem.. Did your ABS light come on that you checked your codes?? How are your brakes acting?? As far as I can remember the brake booster assists in brake pedal pressure so that the driver feels a smooth engagement of brakes. There shouldn't be any reason why you have to change all these parts. If you feel your brakes real tight than that would be a sign that your brake booster is going bad, that shouldn't be a reason to change your master cylinder or ecu. This is my frist time dealing with Lexus but i'm fairly confident that the brake system isn't that much different than all the other make of vehicles.
Check your brakes and try to tell us how they are acting, I'm sure that will help a lot in trying to troubleshoot your problem should you need any help.
Hope anything I wrote helps, just don't want you to spend all that money without you really having to.

Well, I think on the GS the brake booster and all of that stuff is built into the entire brake assembly. Problem is that they don't sell single parts of the whole assembly...or at least I don't think so. Thus if just one part of the assembly goes out, you gotta buy a whole new unit.

Falvio,

Just to clear it up a bit, on the GS the brake boost system is a hydraulic power boost. There is a pump and accumulator that run and build up pressure to assist in braking, I believe the ABS is also tied into the master cylinder system in this case. This type of system tends to be more efficient and powerful.

I have replace a master cylinder before, but I was wrong in the diagnosis. The cust had complained about a soft/low pedal, it turned out the front caliper slide had seized and the extra travel was relayed into the pedal. I also had the same problem on another cust car the other day, we had replaced front brakes six months ago. But I've never seen any codes come up for one.

Eh, it might not be such a good idea to wait until it fails lol. What if you're going 70-80mph on the highway one day and can't stop?

mine took a dump a few weeks ago and dripped brake fluid all over the ground
took me about 30 mins to swap it out.
prolly took me another 30mins to bleed it.

i paid $125 shipped for a used abs unit/brake master with a 30 day warranty.
