Default Brake booster=$2500 at dealer

This is what I was quoted just for the part without labor. Anyone have the unfortunate experience of having to change this part? I know I can get one from a junkyard but who knows what I am getting. This sux (98 gs 400)

You could try to find one on ebay. I remember there was a seller that had one for about $500 or so and it was a brand new part too.

Here ya go. One is the partial assembly and the other is the full assembly.

Was there any warning when your brake booster went out? I can hear mine pretty clearly and its like everytime I'm at like a stop light or something. Its on quite an amount of time and am worried that mine will go out as well. Thanks

What happened to you booster? I've not seen any of these go bad, unless there was an outside interference.

Thanx for everyone's input. I am afraid to install a used unit because who knows how old and how long it was on the shelf. These units go bad just as any other part would over time. There are a bunch of sensors and valves inside( none of which can be bought seperate). These units are electronic and not operated by standard vacuum off the manifold. My brake system was always flushed with scheduled maintenance. I did a search, and although not very common, it did happen to quite a few members (not to mention non-members). I don't have any buzzing sounds, just the brake pedal feels different ( and takes longer to stop). I just did front and back pads like a month ago. I had them plug in the scanner ($55) and they told me the codes. There were like 4 different one's all relating to the brake booster and master cylinder. I might just wait around a little since I really only drive the car like once a week anyway. f GVYIOBjjjdiofffffkk...........this really suxxx

To keep it simple, when you step on the brake pedal, this controls how the car will stop.
