??? for those that have replaced the master brake cylinder
I recently heard the dreaded screaming babies coming from under the hood of my 1998 GS. After reading around the forums.. I found out that this was a defective design of the original mbc. Since I didn't want to pay $1500-$2000 for a new one from the dealer.. I got one off a 2002 for $650 or so (didn't want to get one with the same defect). After getting the defective one replaced... I have a problem with the VSC / ABS / VSC OFF lights coming on. I can pump the brakes once and they will go off.
Everything feels fine and I have brought it back to the shop and they said the sensors were a little different than the one that came off originally which is the reason the lights come on. I trust the repair guy because he was a Lexus Master Tech at McGrath here in Chicago and opened up his own shop catering to Toyota/Lexus... plus its cool that he owns 3 Lexus'. So I trust his word.
Has anyone ran into this issue before? What year model did you swap the master brake cylinder out for? Newer? If you have had this problem... were you able to swap out sensors?
Thanks in advance!
