Default New brake pads?

I know I should post this in the brake section but I need answer asap.

How do you tell when your brakes are running out? Lately I've been hearing squeakings. It goes.... shhh shhhh shhhhh shhhh shhhh shhh. The faster I go, the faster it shhh.
Does anyone know the price of OEM brake pads?

you usually know you need new pads when you hear metal-metal contact. pad makers will embed little metal posts in the end of the pads, so if you've got less than like 15% pad life, you start getting squeals. Your "shh" ing sound could be that. How many miles do you have?

I see. I have 23,000 miles. Once in a while I drive hard and a couple of times I did stand still burn outs which burns the rear brakes.

Default Already replaced brakes...

I had my front/rear pads and rotors replaced about a week ago at 28k miles.

The price I got from the dealer was $404.00 per axle and that included installation.

I then priced it at a local repair shop, and their price was even higher because they are forced to get the parts from Lexus, and Lexus charges them a premium and therefore the price with install for front and rear was about $400 bucks more than the total dealer price.

Needless to say, I went with the dealer doing the install.

i bought my brake pads at lexus for about $100 bucks, you dont need to necessarily change your rotors. just get your rotors resurfaced, it'll need alot of cutting but it'll be fine.

are there 2 different part #'s for the IS 250 or 350 pads? I thought there was a lower dust version.

If the "shh shh shh" sound is accompanied by a guy in your back seat with a hockey mask on, it's not your brakes.

I would have the dealer check your pads during your next oil change.

For lower dust pads, EBC now has their green and red compound pads. They say the greens (ceramic) make 50% less dust than most OEM pads.

The Reds are preferred for the 2IS. Unfortunately, they haven't hit the shelves yet.
