Question Brake Problem

Sorry guys, but could you point out where I can get info (or links, I did search, but couldn't find anything) on when to replace a new brake pad? My car is at 11k miles, and it's making high pitch sound when I brake. Not sure if that's early to replace or something is wrong w/my brake.

Well, i'm asking you guys first because I don't want to deal with dealer yet! Thanks

Squeaking/screeching are normal if that is what you mean what by high pitch. When you start hearing a repetitive "shhh" sound is when you need new pads. Get it checked anyways.

??? Mine has never squeaked or screeched. Ever. Not once.

You can check the pad thickness by looking at the caliper where the pads contact the disc. You should see the brake pad, not the metal backing, touching the disc. If the metal backing plate is so close that you can't see the pad material, you need to have it checked. FWIW, I just checked mine and at a little over 17k I still have more than 7mm pad thickness left.
