I am afraid that I am getting hosed. $400 for front brakes and resurfacing rotors at newport lexus. I have 20k miles on the car. They said that the fronts are at 15%. Does that sound reasonable in terms of mileage. How badly am I getting hosed on the parts & labor?

Newport Lexus is under fire for all sorts of stuff like promising free oil changes until curtain miles. I would be careful we bought are 250 there and i just bought a 350 from some place else. I live right next to NB Lexus and I have seen people protesting about the service they were promised and all sorts of other stuff. I would take it to another dealership

I just got my fronts replaced at Longo. $245 for new front pads and resurfacing. btw, my car was at 22444 miles when replaced.
Do you hear "shh shhh shhh shh" sound when you drive? If you dont hear it yet, I dont think your brakes are out yet. How hard do you stop? Race a lot?

I thought the OEM pads are the best pads for the rotors since they are soft. When its time to replace mine, I'll definitely go ceramics. It seems that I will have to go through the same as the OEM pads anyway. At least ceramics give off less dust.

There is no TSIB for US Lexus. That TSIB is for Canada only at this point in time.
$400 is a lot for $60 pads and a resurface that's entirely unnecessary. I never resurface unless I change pad compound. It only shortens the rotor's service life. However, I would ask that the rotor thickness be documented to be sure it isn't on the edge of the service limit.
If they do surface them, they should be centerless ground, not turned. They came ground from the factory not turned, and the grinding process is IMHO a far superior method.

Is there a break-in period for brakes?
I just changed it 2 days ago and I try not to brake really hard but when I do try to brake really hard, the brakes do not grip. They are really bad actually, I think if I compared the brakes on a 40mph-0mph test before it was changed and after it was changed. These new brakes would take double the distance to reach a complete stop. Is this normal?
