Default Steering Shimmy-where to get balance around Dallas?

Ive got the shakes, i mean my car, & I'm wondering who has had a good experience with a shop around here that can balance my tires. I live in Mckinney & work in Grand prairie, so my range is pretty much 2/3 of DFW.

I checked into Discount to get road forced, but they tell you one price over the phone & one in person, and then when you show up, the machine's broken & they didn't bother to tell you before you drove over there. I don't have much if ANY faith in them but I'll go there if I have to.

Has anyone had any luck fixing this problem by just balancing? The cars got 99500 on it so I'm not ruling anything out just yet, but before I start adjusting things, I wanna make sure the tires/wheels are indeed not the problem by getting a good balance & maybe alignment (although tire wear is very even).

thanks

I had my wheels/tires balanced with the Hunter 9700 at Discount Tire located at the Tollway and Park. I think it was like $100 with a lifetime rebalance. They had to totally remove all my tires from the rims and it looked like a real pain. After watching them sweat doing it, I did not mind paying the $100. After that, my car drove perfect.

Were they quoting you balance on the Hunter 9700 and a lifetime re-balance for all four tires? I thought it was a good deal considering the time and effort it took them. This was not just throwing some weights on there.

Bill is right. The Hunter 9700 is a very nice and expensive machine. Park Place Plano has one. It can also measure the run outs on your wheels. Most of the time would have flip the tire and find a matching point. Most of you techs will keeping adding the weight until it is 0. That is not the properly way to balane a tire. Sometimes you have to spend hours to get it right. $100 is not a bad price to pay.

they said "you only need to road force once, then we'll spin balance to re-balance" & I thought that was pretty lame, so this was just a regular one time road force. Around where I work, its $3 to spin balance a tire, so paying extra for THAT doesnt make too much sense.

My tires are about 60% gone, so when I get new ones I'll get the real-lifetime road force, unless they'll carry the lifetime to my next set of tires. I know firestone will only give you a lifetime balance if you buy thier tires.
