Default Eibach Spring Install Question...**RESOLVED!!**

i just had my springs installed the other day and i am having the clunking noise when going over bumps. ive searched to find out how to fix this problem. ive seen where ppl have posted that i need to lower the car and re torque the suspension pivot points. if someone could explain to me exactly which bolts i need to do this....b/c i took it back to the place that installed it and i told them about it....but im not sure they understood what i was talking about. thanks in advance....btw, the noises are coming from both sides of the rear suspension and today they took it all apart and reinstalled it, but the noise is still there. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

Maybe they didn't cut your bump stops.

but would not cutting it make the noise though? i mean it almost sounds like someone left a wrench in the spare tire well and clanks when i drive over bumps. i know there isn't anything there, but thats what it sounds like.

Not sure but possibly. Maybe try opening the trunk and pushing down on the trunk floor to try to compress the suspension and see if you hear any noise.

You may have to pull back the trunk lining to see if they did leave a tool behind the liner!

Coils binding on the bottom perch ends. Check to see if the coil end is touching the shock. To fix you have to compress the springs and turning it, which involves reinstall method. Or just compress it and turning as much as you can while still on the car , jacked up. Thats why I always leave about 1/8" gap when I install springs.

i was able to some what locate the problem. when i had my hand on the top of the shock via inside the trunk, and bounce the car up and down, i can feel and hear the clanking noise as the car goes up and down. any idea on what it could be? could it be possible that the installer put the rear struts back together wrong? the noise is driving me insane

Did you check the bolts on the top of shocks to make sure that they are tightened? There should be 3 bolts holding the strut mount on the top. Also, if the coils are binding, I think that's why Eibach springs come with some plastic cover that goes around the coils for 1/4 of spring coil.

yes the top 3 bolts are tight. as far as the plastic thing, mine didnt come with it. i thought that tein springs come with that. the noise only comes from the rears,.....i think im going to take it to a different place next week for them to look at.
