GS400 springs fit a GS300? I would have thought for sure the GS400 would be different at least in the front with the added weight of the V8?

actually, cutting springs INCREASES your spring rates...

just imagine, with a spring with 10 coils flexing when you compress it 2" and you hack 1 coil off... you'll only have 9 coils compressing the same 2"... fewer coils of equal thickness coils = increased spring rate...

i've cut 3/4 of a coil off my SC400 springs once.. it worked well enough to lower my car an inch or so... however, i had to replace my shocks with something a bit firmer... so i put koni adjustables in...

however, with my SC400, it scraped everywhere... left right and centre... so i sold the suspension to my buddy, and put his stock (low km) suspension back into my SC...

YEs, Gs400 springs fit just fine. It's not much of a weight diff becuase the V8 is an aluminum block as compared to the iron block of the 6 cyl.

I just saw a set of Tanabe coils on ebay as well for about $160 brand new shipped to your door.

Isn't your wife going to be driving this car? I don't think she'd like bouncing down the street like a mexican lowrider.

personally I would wait until you get coilovers or buy some used springs and resell them on the forums.. but I guess it's better than heating the springs... which I did on my old 442 back in the day.

As one person suggested earlier, I would buy some eibach prokit springs which should run you under $200 (used even cheaper), then in the future, when you purchase your coilovers, you can sell your springs w/out losing too much.

Much safer than cutting springs, and you'll get the look you want. You'll be much happier, and your car will be too.
