Default IS250/350 Brake conversion w/ SS lines.

Hi guys, I just got this mod done, installed front and rear IS350 brake system onto a 250, afterwards took the car to bed in the brakes and WOW...what a huge difference!!! especially with the SS lines and new ATE brake fluid.
The install was straight forward except the rear required some modification to the backing plate for the rotors to fit properly. I took some before and after pics while the car was in the shop getting it done.

here are the rotor size increase between the two,

IS350- Front @ 334 mm and Rear @ 310 mm

IS250- Front @ 296 mm and Rear @ 291 mm

special thanks to parts manager Mr. Lee Moorse at Rallye Lexus.

R/R wheel area, the backing plate had to be modified for the rotor to fit properly.

How much did the whole kit cost? I can understand why you want the 350 calipers, but I don't see how the lines will make any difference. Please explain.

Mainly for improved brake feel, steel braided lines does not allow as much line expansion as the rubber hoses does. I did it mainly for trackdays, if i was only going to drive around the streets with it then I wont even bother to change it. stock IS250 brakes are plenty for daily driving.

I had SS brake lines on my last car and I loved it. The braking changed for the better. The peddle felt firm. When applying lots of brake pressure, from about 130mph down to 50mph for a turn the peddle still felt really firm. I can't wait to get these for my IS.

FWIW, I checked my TT Supra brake line kit from Goodridge ($89 from Upscale Auto) to see if it will fit the IS350. Not a chance. The rears would work but the fronts are so far off it isn't even a thought.
