Default BBK for AWD from StopTech

I was talking to Shawn over at StopTech about doing the R&D for the AWD BBK. How many AWD owners would be interested? I don't have any details.....just seeing if there is interest out there.

I don't know of the majority of the AWD owners bought the car looking for it's performance purposes...

.....tell that to us in the Northeast that have to drive in snow. It seems like the AWD owners are shutout of many aftermarket parts. I'm just trying to come up with alternatives for those who do want these parts.

This would be interesting, I was never aware that the brakes were different from IS250 and IS250AWD. I was thinking Project Mu but I can throw that out the window if they're different.

Yes, AWD needs love too!!! Right Mark!?

I think the BBK would be pointless on a AWD, I think better pads will be more than sufficient for the job. I don't think the AWD needs better braking, I think it'll just need better handling to give the AWD something on the tracks. Coilovers with sway bars will do the trick IMO

A BBK's from Stoptech for our AWD cars would be nice but, I'd rather stick to slotted-vented rotors w/ EBC Red Stuff pads and SS lines w/ Motul DOT 4 Fluid.

I'd get the simple slotted rotor upgrade I mentioned in a heartbeat from either Brembo or Stoptech.

I wouldn't go with BBK's on my car personally because I just don't think I need them.

I'm not gonna go Turbo any time soon but I will be looking into it and other custom fab work in my area.

The Northeast ppl need to hook up.

There aren't many shops over here like in Cali =/

^^ is where its at. for awd and rwd is's, if you aren't tracking or boosting you don't need a bigger caliper.

Regardless....point of reference, the 250 BBK's will fit the AWD:

Mark,

I have confirmed that the brake line will not be different on a 250, 250
AWD, or a 350 up front. You can order a brake kit as an IS250 and it
will include AWD versions as well.

Thanks!

Why not just upgrade to the bigger brakes on the IS350, on the IS250? Cheaper, and just as effective, unless you plan to track your car, in which case the Stoptech would be more durable over long hard runs.

If I had a 250 RWD or AWD and felt that it needed bigger brakes, I wouldn't consider anything other than the 350 parts. They are cheap, and would be totally adequate on the track due to the reduced power.

This is 100% true. Stoptech on a 250 is all show, no practical purpose IMO.

I am looking into BBK for my AWD in the future... yes some people, that travel to snowy places regularly, do care for performance in the Summertime or when home in the City.
