Default Springs & Shocks for 92' SC400?

Hi guys,

Awesome forums you guys have here. Anyways, as the thread title states, I am looking for springs and shocks for my 92' SC400. I need front springs and shocks all around. They are dead and need to be replaced.

I called the Lexus dealer here (Toronto, Canada) and they quoted me:

Front springs: $152 each
Front shocks: $117 each
Rear shocks: $111 each

So, I'm looking at $760 for the part alone, before installation. Seems a little steep. I was wondering if you guys would make some suggestions for other springs/shocks. Is there anything as good or better than the OEM setup? Or perhaps a cheaper way to get OEM shocks & springs? Please make some suggestions.

Thanks,

Benny

are you just looking for an OEM replacement? maybe an online store. if you want some performance oriented then KYB or Tokico struts would do

OEM replacement: call Carson Toyota (CL Vendor) as they can get you prices under book.

Aftermarket: Try a simple Tokico HP (aka "Blues") with some Tanabe or Eibach springs. Neither lower the car that much, and they are both inexpensive.

If you were near Indiana or Michigan, I could help you with the install as I just did mine in the driveway on Saturday. For that matter, I have my stock shocks and springs with 58k miles on the clock: plenty of life there. These are sitting in my basement collecting dust...

Dude-- Just a simple recommendation, but when you install wear components, no matter what people say, unless it's FREE!! (granted $30 or $100 sound close to free considering this is a Lexus) Just install NEW components--

After doing the motor mounts, I would NEVER install USED ones someone claimed to be in mint condition---

Same thing for ANY of the ignition components-- That is a do it once and don't do it again for a long time sort of thing--

Your $100 is better spent toward a high quality replacement WITH a lifetime warranty you often get from Autozone and Oreilly's as long as you own the car with the part you bought on it--

My $.02
