Default OEM Strut/Shock Rubber cover

i was wondering about the rubber covers or sleeves. over the years it started to crack and now it tore apart. so yea my question is. Does it really matter if i have that or not?

is it the sleeve that covers the shock? or the upper mount you are talking. If its the sleeve cover, i think its just there to protect it from dirt/moisture contaminating it.

its the sleeve. do you think it matters if its gone>?

i dont think so.. when i took off my old struts my sleeves were torn off and it drove fine. I guess if you are **** about it, then leave it.

My rear one tore on one of the rear strut/shock... Its not all that important, but i gotta say that i dont wanna leave it torn like that because it makes sense to have it there to keep things like mud, sand, and dirt from getting INSIDE the strut (if thats possible)

almost 150k miles.

alrighty then. sounds like it should be safe without the sleeve.
