Had the same problem with the driver's rear sound. Isolated the problem to a rubber dampener above the muffler. Replaced it and all clanking went away. Dealer part.

Well i gave it one more try this morning and the noise is still there... I have tightened everything and anything i could find and all bolts were secure.. Looks like i maybe making a phone call to the place that installed my coilovers as they deal with Lexus, Toyota, etc.. This is the first time in 2 years that I've brought the car in for a suspension issue.. I 'll post an update as soon as i hear something.. Thanks

Default Found the rear end Noise..

The noise is coming from a what they call a HID Headlight Height sensor.. There's a sensor box right above the lower control arm and there's a plastic end link piece that connects to a bracket one below and one above and than to the sensor.. We took the end link off but the noise was slightly there but not as much. SO we beleive its the sensor itself because the bracket and end link have a lot of play in it..the upper bracket is connected to the sensor. My local lexus dealer wants 350.00 for the whole sensor assembly. They don't sell individual pieces. All i need is the end link and brackets.. So I'm going to call Sewell and see what they say..

I'm not sure the 300's have this maybe only with cars with the HID option..

Please pardon, I know this is a very old thread. But I have the same problem. My xenon height sensor is hanging by itself, I guess one of the links is broken or something. Here is a picture, but not the best one:

Has anyone else had a similar problem to tmf2004? Can I just disconnect and remove this sensor, or remount it somehow?
Thank you very much in advance for any help or advice on this issue.

the HID sensor helps with auto-leveling the headlights....if you remove or disconnect the sensor, auto-leveling will be de-activated.

PHML you're absolutely correct.
BTW, what do you mean by "help" is there any other way how the beam is leveled?
There is another exact same sensor in the front.

Regarding the rear one, on the past weekend I've removed the broken "tab" and have relocated the rear autoleveling sensor.
Here are some pictures of what was done.

This is a picture of what was broken:

And this one might be the cause:
The red circled are is not rotating/moving at all, hence putting pressure on the metal thing that got broken. (previous pic)

Here is where I've temporarily put on zip ties

And where it has been, circled areas is where it was bolted on.

The question is, I'm more than sure, that I'd be able to fix the broken metal thing (welding or smth), but what about the "thing" in the second picture. Anyone know where I'd be able to order it? I checked with Sewell but as far as I understood they only sell the whole sensor kit for ca 299

Just got the two-ball joint thing found and ready for install:

But there is always something that needs your input.
I'm trying to remove the headlight auto leveling sensor from the rear.
But I cannot seem to reach for the connector.
On the sewell-lexus page I found a following scheme:

I think I can reach for the area circled in red but the connector is further to the rear of the car.

Has anyone ever removed theirs and can help me out on how to do this?

Thank you very much in advance!

I'm going to check this tonight. I have a sound coming from the rear also. I'll check for that connector at the same time.
