Default Why Are My Brakes Doing This??

I've begin to notice that if I apply my brake pedal once, it gives that typical soft Lexus brake pedal feel. But if I let up in the middle of braking, then jam back down on the brake (even a light jam) it get's real firm and provides a more sure-footed braking feel than just one press.

What's up with that? My brake fluid resevoir is full. And the fluid is less than two years old. Could there be air in the system that is causing this? Has anyone else experienced this before?

Bleed your brakes.

Plus, if you pump any brake system, the pressure increases.

typical symptom of old dirty bubbly brake fluid. dont just bleed it. flush it all out, and get new fluid in there. then bleed like crazy, til the new fluid runs solid.

Thanks. I'll bleed it all out.

Congrats for properly operating brakes! It will still do it even after you bleed them, but bleeding will help with the initial "soft lexus push" that you feel, after you bleed, the first push will be firm as well.
