changing out LCA's on a SC is stupid DIY easy. It is very easy to do (diy) BOTH sides(one person) in about 2 maybe 3 MAX hours if you are an idiot.(two people working=twice as fast) Rent free of charge a ball joint splitter/removal tool and tie rod puller tool from AutoZone (if you are not sure about which size to use just rent{free of charge** two or three different ones (counter people will help you pick). This is a DIY easy job with just a few tools needed. No biggy. If you know how your friend changed out his FRONT LCA BALL JOINTS(SC or Supra same same) on his own then he deserves a medal and a permanent DIY STICKY on this forum, on how he did it himself and what ball joint (part number/vendor) he used. A ton of us would like to know that info! Remember you MUST get a new alignment after installing new LCA"s. Do a search on the DIY LCA's.

Thats what I said when he told me he changed the ball joint. I will pick his brain again soon. But some how, some way he said he did it. I will find out if he is mistaken. If he actually did this you can bet I will post info on it.

Did he mean the bushing? That would make sense.

Let it be. It would be a waste of brand new bushings.

Guys, on my 97 I went with 94 mkiv LCA's and they went on with no problem. My 97 has 220xxx miles on it and the bushings were GONE. I could not find just bushings for 97+ sc's but I'm glad it turned out that way. The differance was night and day. I just got my silver 99 a couple months ago with only 100xxx miles I checked the LCA's on it and they still have a little more life in them before needing to be changed.

Ball joints are not sold without the control arms and yes you will need an alignment after install.

You know Im a light weight enthusiast, but Im afraid my wallet would be to light after the purchase. That said, if I had the extra money I would buy them.
