Humm wonder how long they will honor the brake pad change... i JUST got my 15K mile service done... so I dont want to go back just yet for the brake pads... but what if they decide to not warrant the TSIB anymore?

so you are saying they are doing a free brake pad change on the 07 IS350 and 250? Is this due to excessive brake dust? Is this what everyone is talking about with the TBIS deal?

Thank you for clearing that up for me. I hadn't heard a thing about it from my dealer. Then again I have only had the car a month so who knows.

I'm still not complaining - 82.8% left with 34k+ on the car isn't bad at all. Way better than my Supra - its brakes were shot (discs and pads) at 63k miles.

Dang... that means these pads are wearing the rotors about 2.5X faster than stock if my math is right.

Sort of. I now commute 20 miles in occasionally stop and go traffic. My first 21k miles when I measured consisted of 99% highway mileage with very little braking at all. So, I'd attribute part of the accelerated wear to a different use pattern. Still, 2500 of those post TSIB pad miles were driving from Sacramento to Atlanta and that surely was not very taxing on brakes.

Well we can't eat one's cake and have it too. This was to be expected. From what lobuxracer measured, looks reasonable. Way better balance than the original dust pads.

i'm taking it they squeaked when you adjusted them right? did they squeak at any other times?

**UPDATE**

Measured the discs tonight - thinnest spot measured 29.36mm. I now have 45k+ miles on the odometer, and nearly 25k miles on the pads. So, in the last 11k miles, I've used an additional 0.12mm of the disc's life. So at 45k miles I've used 21.3% of the disc's useful life, or 4.1% in the last 11k miles.

For a better comparision, I've used 0.44mm of the disc's useful life since getting the TSIB pads, and I've completely changed my driving patterns to about 75% city - stop & go - and 25% freeway from about 99% freeway and 1% city. Commuting does have a price. My estimation is the TSIB pads do not wear the discs any more quickly than the original dust producing "high friction" pads.

Pads are 9.7mm thick after almost 25k miles. So they're worn about 21%. Projecting perfectly even pad wear (like that ever really happens) I could go 125k miles on these pads and discs. I am still baffled how some of you are wearing out your brakes in 15k miles or less - unless you brake with your left foot all the time.

I'd call the TSIB pads a total win!

I would not wait too long to get the pads replaced, they may decide not to if there is barely any pad left. My dealer actually resurfaced the rotors for me free of charge. Refer to the below and you will be fine. The new pads have little dust and are much better.
