with approx. 1000 miles on them. I am taking them off because there are monster speed bumps in my community and it is a pain in the butt to crawl over them everytime I come home. I want to put the stock sport suspension on it. I will make the trade if you give me the suspension + a couple bucks and you have a relatively new car.

They are plenty soft. I just don't want to turn them up to what stock height would be, because then they would be firm because there is more preload on the coil.

That's not how it works. The spring rate is the same. It won't be stiffer or softer, just ride higher.

No, when you preload a coil to get more height. They do ride stiffer the higher they are set.

They can't ride "stiffer." The spring rate never changes. Sure there's more preload, but the rate is identical because the spring hasn't changed, only the installed length has changed which in turn changes the ride height.

Every coilover I have ever owned, 7 or 8 sets, has gotten firmer when the vehicle is lifted. It doesn't matter if the rate changes or not. Especially with progressive springs where you are compressing the soft part first.

Wait - progressive rate springs get stiffer as they compress? Umm, yeah. They're designed that way. Straight rate springs do not.

Yes, well kinda. Linear springs still get firmer because lets say it takes 500 to compress them 1 inch and another 500 to compress them 2 inches. Well if you take away from that first lets say 1/2 inch it would then take 750 pounds to get it to compress 1 inch, hence making it firmer.
I am just speaking from experience, both linear and progressive springs get stiffer when the coil is preloaded. Ask any of the offroad gurus on other forums how it works and they will all know.

You might want to research Hooke's Law for a better understanding of how springs work.
