Problem. Breaks?
#17
My car is exhibiting the same symptoms: Stiff brake, car slows very quickly with the foot off the gas, hot rotors after a long cruise with no brake use-this is all intermittent. I knew this was going to happen though, because when I replaced my seized front passenger caliper 2 months ago, I grabed the wrong bottle and put POWER STEERING FLUID IN THE RESERVOIR!! I immediately siphoned the fluid, drained the master cylinder, and then refilled with brake fluid and flushed/bled the front brakes. I cleaned out the new caliper as best as I could with fluid, but I expect it to go soon. Looks like I'll be changing a master cylinder this weekend.

I wonder how they determined that your brake master was shot? From what you described I'd say you have a intermittent sticking/freezing brake caliper.
Signs of a sticking caliper?
extreme heat from wheel/brake area
metallic type funny smell from wheel/brake area
car may pull to one side
makes it hard to accelerate
may feel like suspension is bouncing up and down when the caliper is frozen down.
Don't ever drive the car with frozen brakes because they can overheat and catch fire.
I hope the problem is gone!
