Beware of the super cheap rebuilds; mine were delivered with dented pistons, had to go to Toyota for replacements. Even with the extra parts it was a deal compared to anything else.

The supra roadrace guys have found that the stock pads and rotors hold up/perform exteremely well.

My original brakes with upgraded pads were trashed after a couple years of highway driving

so then stick with the OE Rotors and Pads, ?????

so back to the super cheep rebuilds, now I thought those were original housings with rebuilt interior parts, so would there be any difference in preformance, i wouldnt think so because they are made to specs with the car or else they would not work, so
my next question would be,

I guess no one has compared the two (the two meaning) LS and TT calipers,
all i know so far is that the LS is lighter by 9 lbs, and some on had stated that
(not a direct quote), " the LS and TT were tested under breaking pressure from 60mph to 0mph, and the difference was not noticeable, other than the lbs, and the design of the calipers, which one would be better stoping power,,

Im thinking LS since its stoping a heavy car and has a V8,
but then the TT because its a sports car and has been designed to handle such aspired driving. soooo, its a toss-up...

The rebuilds are exact same as oem just made with probalby cheaper parts. Not cheaper in a lesser quality sense just cheaper in price. Also I would rather but a reman than a used since it has new seals and everything

Supra ones are bigger (slightly) have more options for rotors, but weigh more...

...Then you don't know much. The LS400 brakes are 9 pounds each not 9 pounds lighter. http://www.intellexual.net/faq.html

If you're comparing the LS to the TT Supra.....it's a 6lbs difference......just comparing calipers though. Not quite the 9lbs difference claimed, but still significantly lighter than the TT's

OEM 95-00 LS400 Brake Upgrade ($300 to $500)
caliper 4 piston 9 lbs.
rotor 12.4 inch ~ lbs.
rotor thickness 1.26 inch
OEM 93-98 Supra Turbo Brake Upgrade ($500 to $1000)
caliper 4 piston 15 lbs.
rotor 12.72 inch 20 lbs.
rotor thickness 1.26 inch

Caliper 9lbs vs. 15lbs. A difference of 6lbs, comparing the calipers only.

Since rotor weight is not listed on the reference site, it's hard to say. Assuming the LS rotors are lighter than the TT rotors, It's very possible the whole setup would weight 9lbs less.

What is the LS rotor weight?

BIG BRAKE UPGRADES
OEM Lexus SC400 Brake Specifications
caliper 2 piston 17.5 lbs.
rotor 11.65 inch 20 lbs.
rotor thickness 1.26 inch
OEM 95-00 LS400 Brake Upgrade ($300 to $500)
caliper 4 piston 9 lbs.
rotor 12.4 inch ~ lbs.
rotor thickness 1.26 inch

Assuming rotors are about the same weight since the LS 400 had no rotor weight listed.

If you're comparing the SC to the LS by caliper alone; you're talking the difference between 17.5 and 9 lbs. 8.5 lbs. Not quite 9, but nothing to make a big deal about.

Maybe that's what he meant?

Supra rotors are a bit larger (enough to require 17" wheels) and do indeed weigh a bit more being iron rather than aluminum.

Often overlooked is that Supra pads are 10% larger in surface area and offer at least quadruple the pad selection as compared to the LS400 brakes.

Lex,why do you need to speculate on what GSspeed meant when he made it perfectly clear.:

Where was SC300/400 mentioned in the post?

He said he is comparing the TT and the LS. 6lbs vs. 9lbs is is overstated by 50%. Copy and paste from intellexual.com, nice if you'd mention your sourse.
