LOL ... describe a "controlled test" please. Would you consider it a conclusive test that I have verified that my brakes can overpower my tires just like before, so ABS is still necessary.

Before the TSB came out I looked all over the net for ceramic front pads for my 250.
Never found any available.
Tire Rack has rear ceramic Akebono pads for a 250 but no front pads.

Have you guys noticed how the low dust pads require LOTS more pedal effort when they are cold? I had to make an emergency stop from about 50 MPH right after leaving my work parking lot (brakes were completely cold), and I couldn't believe how hard I had to press the pedal. The car stopped amazingly well (tires starting to make noise, but no ABS intervention), but my foot actually hurt afterwards.

I meant controlled as a statistic reference (if you have taken AP statistic in high school you might know or in college) meaning you make sure that the only variable from the cars are the brake pads themselves... not the other lurking variables.

I know what a controlled test is. I was asking you to describe the controlled test you have in mind for these brake pads. Stopping distance can't change since both sets of pads will overpower the tires, so the only other info we could get from a test would be about fade resistance, pedal pressure, etc.

How cold are you talking? I haven't experienced this at all, but it hasn't got too cold here yet either.

I guess I should be glad that my dusty pads have a nice bite to them when tapped a bit hard....

Low 30's the other night here and didn't feel any difference with the brakes.
My newish Bridgestone Potenza RE 960 AS's did flatspot for a couple of miles, though.

Cold as in 70 deg F. I've noticed several other times that I have to use significantly more pedal pressure during my first stop.

In other words... brake pads / rotors have not reached normal operating temps...

There is something wrong with your set up. I have never experienced this with the new pads, even at 45F temperatures. I did have this problem with the original TRD by Performance Friction pads in my Supra. First stop of the day was always scary and much longer than I would have liked. I have not had this problem ever with the IS brakes.

That's entirely prossible. They may not be totally bedded yet since I've only done about 500 city miles with them, and my rotors were quite grooved.
