It's this kind of crap that made me vow to never pay a mechanic to do something that I could do myself. The only work that I've NOT done myself in the last 13 years was a warranty transmission replacement. I would much rather do it myself so I know it's done right even if it would be "free".
IMO,the dealer would rather resurface than sell you rotors at least on a 250.
New rotors list for $260 a front pair so dealer's cost maybe about $140 considering the wholesale cost is $180 a pair.My dealer gets $200 to resurface two rotors.A much greater profit margin.Regular shops get around $40 to cut a pair of rotors.
You seem to know what you're doing mechanically so your rotors are probably fine.Doing it yourself does save you a bundle of money and you know it's done right.

The dealer wouldn't get full "retail" from Lexus on a resurfacing (or anything else for that matter). Lexus would probably only pay the dealer $30 to resurface them. That's still a good deal for the dealer though since it only takes 3 more minutes of actual labor.

But if a customer paid that $200 like I did when picking up the car...a profit bonanza for that 3 minutes.
That $200+ really pissed me off.I complained and it worked.

No doubt. I would have done more than just complained. I would have reported them to Lexus for trying to charge anything at all.

Like I mentioned here before, those followup surveys seem to be important.
The dealer asked me to give then an outstanding check mark after the credit was issued to my credit card.
So we found a kink in their armor.
