So I ordered Tanabe NF210's and Bilstein HD's for my car.
I called a shop up in Delray Beach that is owned by former dealer technicians, and they quoted me 8 hours ($90/hour) to do the job, not including alignment. Is this about right? I was under the impression its a 3-4 hour job.
Typically around 4 hours. The shop usually goes by the book, which is probably a good time line for newbies. When you work on so many suspension installs on the same car, you can do the job a lot quicker.
Realize that many times a shop will quote 4 hours to give them some headroom. There will be cars with stuck bolts or other complications. When you're doing the job at home, it'll take about 4 hours from the moment you jack up the car to the moment you drop the car.
Even many experienced shops will quote for more hours than what it usually takes them.
