Default New brake pads after 14k miles?

Hi. Today i was in the shop putting on my GFX front lip and they noticed that my brake pads are almost worn out. I've searched many sites and products, but i rather get a point of view from a CL member. What kind of brake pads would be best that doesn't get a lot of brake dust and better performance? Ceramic brake pads?

14K is abnormal. These pads should run you atleast 20K.

Do you drive in the city often? stop & go?

Yeah, mostly in the city. Weekends I get on the freeway, but it's always backed up due to traffic. I've had a couple situation on the freeway where i broke from 75-0 because of a traffic accident.

Have you considered asking the dealer for the brake dust TSB, that might work, although if your pads are completely worn the dealer may not go for it.
But if they did, you'd get new brake pads for free

Speaking of brake dust... WOW. I cannot believe the amount of brake dust after 2 days of driving (and I dont drive far!) My previous car had the same problem but it had huge Brembos on the front so I expected more dust. However, I replaced the pads on my EVO with Hawk HPS pads which gave much less dust. Is there an alternative to the stock IS pads that will give less dust?

The excessive brake dust was engineered into the car to attract 3 series owners.
