Hi guys,
Our IS250's e-brake feel really loose compare to IS350. I've brought the car in to Tustin Lex. multiple of times and result came back the same, loose. Anyone else have this problem or if this is a problem? I did a serch and didn't find any TSB or anyone else having the same problem.
Please advise,
David

My ebrake on my 250 feels loose as well. For example when I engage it on a hill the car will roll a little before it totally locks the car in place. I have brought it to the dealer and they say it is normal but I disagree.

My 350 rolls before coming to a stop many times too, especailly when facing downhill. I had my dealer adjust it for me and made a big difference. I'm pretty sure our ebrake is cable operated, meaning it will stretch over time and adjustment may be necessary.

I feel that too and asked that exact same question here a couple of months ago and some said it was just normal. I'm not sure if I'm imaginign this or I actually read it but i think someone brought it to the dealership and they were able to get it fixed, I can't be 100% sure though. However, from what I can actually remember, it is normal to IS250's as most have experienced the same thing.

I'm having the same issue. My car was in today for my 10K service and my service advisor told me that he had the tech test the brake and everything checked out ok.
All I know is that on my driveway (It's pretty steep), the parking brake won't hold the car. However, every car I've ever parked there has no problem with the incline. Maybe I'm not letting it roll back far enough... I dunno?

Perhaps part of the reason for the small amount of wheel movement after the parking brake is engaged is due to the brake shoes within the rear rotors seating themselves and generating clamping force. The brake calipers you see from the outside of the wheel are not being used when the parking brake is engaged.

If you take your vehicle in for service (10k,15k,20k,etc) and mention it to them they would adjust it as part of the service for you. Make sure you mention it to them that the brake is not holding the vehicle when parked on a steep hill.
