can anyone help me with lowering the SC400
I am looking to lower my 1995 SC 400 what is a good setup I am either looking into a set of Coilovers or Lowering Springs. This car is for daily driving but I like the fact that with the coilovers you can adjust the height I am just wondering what is a good amount of inches to lower the car. I just dont want to buy the lowering springs and than install them and than the car not sit low enough. I would like maybe just a 1 finger gap. Can anyone post pictures of there lowered SC's so that I can see there drops on there cars.
Thank you:
Mark

It's tricky which one to go with because there are trade-offs (price versus height adjustment). You want a 1 finger gap, like a 1/2"? Eibach Pro-Kit springs lowers 1" but I myself would stay stock if I was only going to lower it an inch but maybe it's just what you're looking for. I would want 1.x" - 2" if I was going to spend the money lowering my car. The good thing about the Eibach Pro-Kit is they work with factory shocks/struts. I've read if you lower more than an inch or so, you'll want aftermarket shocks/struts. I want coilovers, maybe a used set of Tein coilovers or another brand. I just don't think I could afford new coilovers at $1,000+.

A good lowering would be about 1.5"-2" for a daily driver.
I would look into Supra shocks and springs. These will fit on our SC with NO mods and will lower it an extra .5"-1" (depending on who you talk to of course).
So in return - a good daily driver with a good drop. With plenty of shock/spring options.
Or you can get coilovers!

Ok well I was looking on the Tein website at there coilovers for the SC400 and it shows that it lowers the car. Does this mean that the coilover all the ay down will only go 1.5" in the front and 1.3" in the rear.

Basic coilovers that are not platform adjustable do not provide endless setup options.
Usually the damping adjustment on these lower end coilovers is minimal as well.
Most people with coilovers probably have the car set at the same height as a set of lowering springs and shocks and don't adjust the damping after it's set.
If you are on a budget you are better off with a set of quality shocks like Bilstein and some decent springs. There are plenty of options.
It's also hard to determine the quality of second hand shocks. After they have been removed from the vehicle and cleaned then look nearly new.
Matt.

I got the Tanabe springs for mine.
1.2" F
0.9" R
I love the stance. Its reverse raked about 1.5 to 2 fingers in front and 1 finger in back. My shocks are shot though so I've been thinking about getting either stock Supra ones or aftermarket Koni's or something. I think this would be a pretty good setup.
