I think I have the greenstuff on my fronts. Prior owner put them on. I think thats what they are as they are green and don't know if any other manufacturer makes green pads. They don't dust as much as my stock TL's but I don't know how long ago they were put on. No noise problems but they are pretty worn. Was thinking of putting on the Proacts but was wondering how much stopping power would be lost?

Has anyone had any experiences w/EBC pads on the GS?
I have had the EBC series of pads and rotors on my car. I put the redstuff pads and the sports series of rotors on it and the rotors did not last very long. I think that they where warped out of the box. Even if they have a very good product their customer service was terrible. Immediately after I installed the rotors I had to remove them and get them turned, all I did was drive around the block and I could tell there was something not right. They where about 7 thousandths out of being true.

They basically said oh you needed to dial caliper them and make sure it was on flat.. so there was nothing they would do as I put them on wrong. Then I turned them in a brake lathe.. $30 later. All I can do it advise anyone not to buy their Made in England junk. I followed the same procedure when I put the autozones on.. I just slapped them on.. I have talked with several other mechanics and they do the same thing unless the have an issue after they are done.

Anyway.. Like my signature reads they are junk. I went to Autozone and put there rotors on... no issues yet.. I still have on the EBC redstuff pads.. they seem okay.

On another note.. I like dust on my wheels.. it tells me two things.. One they are working.. and another.. it is helping to dissipate the heat.. each little dust particle has heat in it and it is taking it away...

The only think that the brakes do is convert kinetic energy into heat energy. Where does the heat go.. I want dust..

When I go to replace my pads I think I will look for the softest brake pad I can find. I think that the ceramic pads are very hard..

BTW.. I had the rotors turned kinda as a favor from the shop that turned them the first time. The results where amazing.. on one side you could see the full slots... and the other side there was only a small line where the slot used to be..... not just one but both.

Sorry to rant about this but this was a bad experience and if I can keep any of our CL money to go to EBC then my time ranting was worth it.

EBC will continue to get my bad mouthing as I feel that what separates just about anyone is what they do when something gets out there door that is not representative of what they make and they don't do anything about it.

They where rude on the phone about this entire situation basically saying you put them on you drove it they are yours we will not doing anything.

Buybrakes.com where the only ones that did well and where understanding.

Sorry to rant... Here is a pic..

The above picture is what it should look like. This is 180deg from the pic above. This was after it was turned, it ran for about 2K miles.

The piture below is scary

OMG that's scary!!! Wow, sorry to hear about such a bad experience w/the EBC rotors and though I've always run Brembo or Zimmerman rotors on my VW's, I had actually given thought to the EBC rotors.....until I read your post. Thanks for the heads up.

I will say I prefer the low dust pads. I've run them with a variety of stock and hi-performance rotors and have always seen a better result over stock, but I really appreciate the low dust content. I don't have the time to wash my cars more than once/week (at best!) and the higher dust content has done damage to my wheels in the past. Plus, some of my wheels are an absolute PIA to clean w/the mesh patterns

hahaha that is some insane rotor wear. i'd say go with Brembo vented rotors. you can get them at tirerack.

I have the Akebono Pro ceramics and like them, but I fear they're warping my rotors sooner than stock pads. I'm had to turn my rotors every 4K.

i would probably look into what kind of rotors you're using. the fact that you're resurfacing your rotors every 4K miles sounds like you already have old rotors.

I've had great luck with the Axxis Deluxe, very little dust and noise, but great stopping power

For those that have purchased the Akebono ProAct ceramics, would you say that they stop better then the OEM pads? Tirerack rates them at a 2 for stopping power and a 5 for dust and noise. I would assume the ProActs are better for dust and noise but would that be worth it if they stop your car 5 feet longer? Anyone know what the OEM pads would rate for stopping power?

It stops better than OEM pads. More aggressive pads wont give you shorter stopping distance anyways unless the OEM pads have completely no bites at all, and they're fading.

Tirerack's rating is a bit different from most other ratings. Think of it as "x better than OEM". So if you have a rating of 2, then its probably 2 steps better than OEM. If you have a rating of 1, then its 1 step better than OEM. It's just tirerack's way of rating things. More likely their opinion than hard facts.

when i used to be into honda's (we all had to start somewhere and i never riced it out i started like 9 years ago so it was tasteful) anyways i had the type r 5-lug conversion with the white rims and ending up using aem pads which made the lightest light light grey dust! might wanna see if they make pads for the gs series! i promise these were the best pads......i liked them better than the project mu bbk i ran with for almost a year!

From my own experience...... Axxis Ultimates, respectable stopping power, dust problem from hell. Currently using Hawk HPS and very, very happy with them. Great stopping power, very low dust.

Akebono Euro ceramics would have been my first choice, but couldnt find them for the Supra TT BBK.

Had stock sized Brembo drilled rotors, warped after a month. now running stock Supra TT BBK rotors up front. Current set up is far better in every way compared to the Brembo/Axxis combo.
