Default shock and strut question

My 95 SC400 has 127,000 miles on it with the orig. shocks and struts. Like a lot of people I complain of sluggish and overweight feeling handling. My car was adult driven and not abused. I always thought the way to check the shocks was to bounce each corner of the car with all of your weight, and if it only came up once the shocks/ struts were good. However I realize this was before struts were widely used. Could my factory struts still be good?

my guess is that the shocks/stuts aren't bad, just the way it is. you can improve the handling in various ways, though.
