i just did my ball joint last week. lots of the clicking noise went alway. i did the ball joint myself (with the help of friends) and it was not as easy as i thought it would be. i had a ball joint tool but it still need to be hammered many, many, MANY times. haha (make sure you becareful when you hammer and not hit the boots on joints you plan to keep)

my old ball joints looks perfect but when you move the joint around (after its removed off the car).. there was some free play. the new ball joint are very firm.

now i can drive and not have "ball joint failure" swimming in the back of my mine everything i hear a click or clink.

You shouldn't need to hammer anything out. Did you leave the nut on when you used the pitman puller to pull off the balljoint? It should just come off in a snap (no pun intended) once you torque it enough.

thats like the old school way!

before i picked up the ball joint/ tie rod puller i was doin the same thing, flipping the castle nut around so the heads or crown of the nut doesnt get damaged..

sounds like you were able to get everthing back together so you should be all good.
