Default Ceramic Brake Pads worth the $$

Can someone explain the pros and cons of Ceramic Brake pads compared to the OEM set up? I have the oem pads on and did not do the TSIB to swap them out. I am happy with the brakes now. I don't want to sacrifice braking to get rid of the dust. I have had many places talk about these over the years and was considering giving them a try. Just looking for those that have them on your car or that have used them.

Thanks!
Mike

I would say you are both guessing and wrong. That's about the most uninformed statement I've seen regarding the OEM pads yet.

ALL Lexus pads (and Toyota) are semi-metallic.

Mike,
I got the TSIB brake pads put last year. They have been perfect ever since. The brake dust in the front is cut down by +70%, pedal feel is much better (not as grabby), and basically no performance loss. Next time we meet up you can drive my car around and check it out.

Thanks Vik...

I just installed Ceramics a few weeks back and painted the calipers. Brian and I need to do the rear pads and will post a DIY when we do. So far the brakes are awesome! I have dust but I am hoping that its just do to the break in. I like how the brakes are grabby in fact I think my new ones are more then the OEM pads where!!

I went with the EBC Red Stuff They are much better then the OEM for stopping! Very good pad and pricey I might add but well worth it! I am still kind of in the break in period. I have had dust but think its more no less the break in! It does just rinse right off!! I like the performance aspect of them

Isn't there a flaw with the EBC Red Stuff? I saw in a thread it causes something wrong to the rotors. I'm not sure if i saw that somewhere or it's just my imagination.

which thread that discuss about the EBC red stuff?
Yeah, I had the EBC red stuff before, I think it is too hard for our rotors. I just replace my rotors and go back to the new OEM brake pads (83.45 for the front and 63.45 for the rear.)

if it's really "grabby" that means it really "bites" into the rotor?

and how does the dust vs. the OEM "less dust" pads?
