TSIB - technical service information bulletin. the new brake pads that you have should solve your brake dust issue, this replacement is one of the TSIB

I just had this done, and WOW, what a difference.
Highly reccomend having this done.
They said I might lose some braking feel or stopping distance. I haven't noticed any. Brakes still as "touchy" as before, and it stops just fine.

I just made the switch to Ceramic pads. Going to give them a shot to see how they hold up and how they compare to the OEM pads. I never did that TSIB as I like how our brakes are. Of course less brake dust would be nice so lets see how our rotors hold up and how they perform to the OEM. I went out and got a nice set for front and rear....Will post a thread with some feedback of them in a month. Install this weekend and a DIY for the rears for the other members....

Hey guys -

So I got the pads replaced on my car the last time I took it to the dealership in April. I've been out of town a lot and haven't driven my car much but when I do it seems the brakes don't work like they used to. I don't think it's normal...I almost had a wreck today because of it. Anyone else have this same problem?

Yes, it is covered under warranty. The proper way to get the dealer to replace your pads is to FIRST complain about excessive brake dust. Then present the service advisor with a printed version of the Brake TSIB. Here is a link to it:

I have an 08 and the front brake dust is insane. The TSIB only covers 06-07, so I guess they didn't fix these for the 08s either?

Not normal at all. They did something wrong with your install.

I took my '08 in to have the TSB done, and yeah the dealership said that my car wasn't covered by it. The difference in dust for the front versus the back is staggering, if I don't wash this car once a week the front wheels look as dark as what you see on a neglected 5-series. I do 60 miles a day but 50 of that is highway so I don't use my brakes that much.

I suspect that this is a problem with the TSB itself, that it just hasn't been updated for the '08's yet.

Sorry to bring an old thread back from the dead, but I just stumbled across it. I'm a 2008 IS 350 owner (bought new in January) and now have around 16k-17k miles on my car. I also notice a lot of brake dust so was wondering about the whole TSIB I had been hearing about, but guess it doesn't apply to me. I think I need to do some brakework soon though because I'm starting to hear/feel grinding when I break

Yep, on 11/25 I took my car to the dealer with the TSIB (I forgot what thread I got it from). They said it was outdated and there was a newer one and use that to take care of the front brakepads. They didn't say anything to me further so I guess the brakes and rotors on the car are ok? My car was at 16998 miles at the time of service.

From the invoice, it says they put in FP-Number 04465-30400 "Pad Kit, Disc BRA"
