I got my Pro kit installed about 4 months ago and i got my alignment done and everything! Is anyone else having a problem that there rear tires are only lasting a few thousand miles. And by a few i mean like 2-3 Thousand. Please Help!!!!

 

I were going to purchase Pro kit for my car, but now i'm scared!!!

 

Tein Stechs, Ive had them on my car for at least 6months and no tire wear, if any theres just a tad.

 

Do you have the 250 or 350 prokit?

 

i have the IS350 pro kit! Been through 3 sets of rear tires in the last 3 months

 

You might want to have your alignment rechecked. Although I don't think there is much that can be adjusted to correct your issue, if it is a problem with too much of a camber change with your Eibachs. That sounds like a crazy amount of wear in a very short time! Our rear camber does change with lowering, that is expected. But not to the point of going thru tires like you are. Do you check your tire pressure often? What psi are you at on the rear tires?

 

there might be more to the story.

do you have I.C.E.? is your car weighed down at all by aftermarket stuff?

was your car ever in an accident where the frame might have been damaged?

I hope it's just because of the springs. perhaps it's a bad set of springs . . .

 

i've had the 350 prokit for about 2200 miles and havent experienced this prob. you def need to recheck your alignment. is the wear on the inside, outside, or consistent? if it is the inside or outside you have a camber issue. the rear camber is not adjustable on our cars but if ur tires wear that fast your wheels must be sitting at a serious angle so get it checked and maybe buy some adjustable camber links!

 

i have 30 psi in the rear tires! i also have never been in an accident and the tire wear is in the inside! I have an two subs in the rear trunk but they are not that heavy i don't think!

 

then you have a camber issue and our cars are not adjustable enough (if at all) in the rear to fix this based on the extreme wear you are describing. you basically have 3 options:
1. do nothing and buy lots and lots of tires
2. take your springs off and ride stock
3. buy adjustable camber links...this will fix the problem and is the route i would take if i had the same experience.

 

30 seems a little low to me. You could get wear on the inside and outside of your tires from running too low....couple that with a camber issue, and you might just get lots of inner tire wear.

But I don't think 30psi is low enough for what you're describing...it has to be something else.

 

How much and where can i buy them?

 

Run the tire pressure at the level in your door jim label.

Get alignment rechecked...have them print out the before and after specs.

the -1 degree camber from a prokit drop will not cause tire wear like that. Bad toe will wear tires out faster than -1 degree camber.

These cars will wear tires evenly across even at -1.5 camber if the toe is correct.

 

so what should i do?

 

dude you should choose one of the 3 options i gave you. those are really your only choices. is the look of your lowered car worth buying lots of tires? or the $600 cost of high quality adjustable camber links? if not...ditch the springs.

30psi is too low but that would create a slightly more even wear and no where near the type of wear you describe. there really isnt much more info needed on this thread just pick an option and go with it.
