Rear Suspension Body Bushings

Rear Suspension Body Bushings
I have a 92 SC400. 235,000 miles. It's been a great car...however...at 60+mph, it rides and drives like an airplane coming in for a landing with flat tires. (yes, that bad) Anyway. I found a local guy who had several parts. So, long story short...he found my problem...my body bushings that hold my rear suspension to the body are pretty much gone. So...my question...does anyone have any input on changing these bushings?

Great! where do I get them...Lexus only? And, what all is involved? I have been told that it is a big job and they have to be pressed in...sound correct? I am talking about the bushings that are directly infront of the rear wheels...
Thanks for the info!

Oh, i think you are referring to the rear control arm bushings.
These bushings are a whole different story.
Its quite a PITA to do and quite a bit of labor is involved.
You can get polyurethane bushings here

Actually, they are the bushings that are directly infront of the rear wheels, that mount the rear suspension assembly to the body of the car. It looks like it would be an easy fix...but...you know how that goes sometimes.

Looks like you're describing the subframe mount. I haven't seen the rear of the SC yet so I dont know what bushing that are in front of the rear tire because you can be looking at any angle and there will be a bushing in front of you.

Yeah sounds like subframe mount. Lexus calls them isolators? Some call them body bushings...
I think they're about 100 bucks a piece from Lexus. I remember a forum member making aluminum ones. Search around.
How bad are they? Take pics!!!

This is just from taking a quick look:
I've never done it. It's not a basic/simple job from what I can tell.
Get the thing up on the lift and start pulling things apart until it's outta there! Just get into it! That's what I'd do.
Try taking the bolts out from this mount and any others that support the crossmember while supporting the cross member will tall adjustable stands. You might be able to lower the whole subframe sufficiently enough to replace the bushings without disconnecting the driveshaft and exhuast. Otherwise to change the bushings I suspect you'll have to remove the rear exhuast section, driveshaft, and entire rear subframe and change the bushings while it's out on the floor.
